What is San Diego Drug Detox?

AKUA’s San Diego Detox offers individuals who are still using or who are a risk of withdrawal. Physical dependence and withdrawal go hand in hand, meaning that an individual is physically dependent on a substance if they exhibit withdrawal symptoms physically in the absence of this substance. Detoxification involves eliminating the drug of addiction for the client’s body in a safe and controlled atmosphere for the client to undergo minimal side effects during this withdrawal period. Medications are often given to ease with withdrawal symptoms, especially if the client is addicted to opioids, alcohol, or benzodiazepines as withdrawal from these substances can be brutally painful and life-threatening. Detox on average takes 72 hours to a few days to eliminate the drug of abuse from the body, and then the individual can enter into residential care where therapy can begin to identify underlying triggers associated with the addiction and to develop healthy coping strategies that can be used in everyday practice.

How Effective is Residential Rehab Treatment?

Although there is no single treatment that’s right for everyone, residential rehab is one of the most effective forms of care for drug and alcohol addiction. According to statistics, 51% of individuals who enter residential treatment will complete residential treatment, and 21% remain sober after five years. The success rate of drug treatment programs does not depend on achieving complete sobriety, but rather on improving the individual’s quality of life as a whole.
