How does Intensive Outpatient Program work?

Akua tailors specific intensive outpatient treatment programs for our clients and provides a strong foundation for a successful recovery. Our recovery programs include interactive group sessions, individual therapy sessions, music therapy, and much more that help our clients fight their urges and continue living a sober life.

After Intensive Outpatient Program

Ongoing care and support are available at Akua. Extended aftercare programs allow clients long-term recovery, which exceeds traditional treatment models. Ongoing case management and therapy increase the chances of lifelong recovery. Patients may go into an Outpatient program, join our Alumni Network, or join any of our specific outreach programs including (First Responders, Family, College, Professional, Pride, Indigenous Culture, and more).

Get started

If you haven’t used illicit drugs or alcohol in the last seven days you may start directly in an IOP program (otherwise, you may go start in detox). Typically, IOP programs are specific to your needs and availability, but most range from 10-20 hours per week (a few hours per day). Our program provides a holistic environment with multiple types of therapies, skill classes, meditation, and education.
